Plot: After a young American backpacker goes missing in Europe, a group of journalists link his disappearance to a remote village in Poland. They travel there hoping to get the story, but as they unravel the secrets behind this mysterious village, they are suddenly pursued by hostile locals. Unable to escape, they soon become the next victims of ritualistic human sacrifice. The President is prepared to release a group of detainees who have been held in U.S. custody since World War II. However, on the day that he prepares to make the announcement, unknown conspirators force a pilot to hijack a plane and crash it at the President’s compound. However, when the plane disappears in mid-air, the mystery begins. Struggling to resolve the matter is the pilot’s son-in-law, computer programmer Sean Walker (Jason Ritter) investigates the conspiracy, which has abducted his fiancée, Leila Buchanan (Sarah Roemer).

Meanwhile, President Elias Martinez (Blair Underwood) realizes that some of the detainees’ people escaped capture, and are willing to do whatever it takes to ensure the release of the others, including their leader, Sophia (Laura Innes). He must deal with threats within and without, as the conspirators seek to ensure the detainees are never released, while the free detainees and their leader, Thomas (Clifton Collins, Jr.), use their advanced technology to force the President to yield to their demands.

Based on the popular book series of the same name, this drama gives viewers a peek into the world of privileged teenagers on an elite private school in New York City. The story is written by The O.C.’s Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, and directed by Mark Piznarski who has worked on series like Everwood and Veronica Mars.

Surface’s Leighton Meester and Accepted’s Blake Lively have taken the lead roles in this drama series. They will play Blair and Serena respectively, rich Manhattan rivals at a private school in New York. The last additions to this new CW drama are Misconceptions’ Taylor Momsen, The Covenant’s Chace Crawford and The Bedford Diaries’ Penn Badgley. Their characters are Momsen as Jenny a 14 year-old and shy girl, Nate the good looking boyfriend of Blair, and Dan the secret admirer of Serena.

E-Ring’s Kelly Rutherford and The Jury’s has been cast as the mother of lead role Serena. Rutherford will play the mother of Serena van der Woodsen (Lively’s character), a former ballerina and rock groupie. Afterlife’s Ed Westwick has been cast as Chuck Bass and Brothers and Sisters’ Matthew Settle has been cast as Jenny and Dan’s father, Rufus Humphrey.

The two become partners begin working together to solve other murders in New York along with other detectives Javier Esposito, Kevin Ryan and Captain Roy Montgomery. They also work with medical examiner Lanie Parish. Richard’s family includes his mother Martha Rodgers, who was a broadway diva and his daughter Alexis.

The show is produced by ABC Studios and Beacon Television. ABC is set debut the show in March 9, 2009. Castle was given a 10 episode order for the first season.
