Hi! If you’re like most dog owners, you were hoping when you got your dog that he would be the smartest, most well-behaved companion you’ve ever had.

You were hoping he would be bright, alert, attentive.
The kind of dog who listens carefully to you.
Who understands what you say.
Who DOES what you say.
We all want a dog like that.

But often…
it doesn’t work out that way!

Does your dog do any of these things?
Does he bark too much? When people come to the door, does he bark so much that you can barely talk to the other person?
Is he hyper? Does he jump all over people?
Does he go to the bathroom on your floor, or in his crate, or on the furniture?
Does he mouth at your hands, or nip at your ankles or feet?
Does he dart just out of reach when you try to catch him? Does he lead you on merry chases around the house, especially if he has something he doesn’t want to give up?
Does he pull on the leash when you try to walk him?
Does he chew up things when you leave him alone?
Does he frequently nudge you for petting when you’re trying to read the paper, or talk on the phone, or visit with guests?
Does he brace his legs and refuse to let go when you try to take something away from him that he wants to keep?
Does he struggle or complain when you try to open his mouth to look at his teeth? Or bathe him? Or clean his ears? Or clip his toenails?
Does he grumble or growl when you wake him up? Or when you move him from his favorite chair? Or when you try to take his food bowl or toy away from him? Or when you touch some “sensitive” part of his body, like his tail or paw?
Does he act aggressive or nervous with strangers or other dogs?

If your dog does any of these things, don’t feel bad. You’re not alone.

Thousands (Really! Thousands!) of dog owners have emailed me with these same problems.

And hundreds of owners have hired me as an obedience instructor and behavioral consultant to HELP them with these problems.
